Cross Country a "big hit" on the Precinct

Despite the winter winds, last year 242 cross country runners from around the region, old and young alike, took part in the first major sporting event on the Community Precinct.

Considered Qld’s best winter cross country racing series, the Sunshine Coast Cross Country events have been jointly organised since 2000 by Maroochy Athletics Club and University of the Sunshine Coast Athletics Club.

Organiser Andrew Bock said last year’s Maleny leg in the series had proved to be so popular, that the course at Maleny was again attracting lots of runners.    “Our feed-back was all good, with runners relishing the country challenge posed by of Maleny’s hills.     Another bonus is that the course is visible by parents, who can track their kids all the way”.

SCCC are working closely with Maleny Athletics Centre and the Maleny Golf Club on the course, making sure all is ready for Sunday 4th May.

Hosted by MDSRC, with community groups assisting, Maleny runners and all families are encouraged to participate in this family friendly sporting event - there is something for everyone, of all abilities.   Hot drinks and breakfast will be ready on the morning too!

Entry forms will be available at the registration desks - please plan to be at the venue long before your race to avoid delays.

When and Where: This event will be on Sunday 4th May at the Maleny Golf Driving Range Porter’s
Lane north Maleny.    Registration time commences at 7a.m. with the first race commencing at 8.00 am.    You would need to be there at least 40 mins prior to register.
