Get Out and Get Active in Life and the Community

Looking for a great way to celebrate Australia Day with the whole family?
Then Maleny Showgrounds is the place to be on Sunday January 26th.     Kick off early with the Apex Big Aussie Day Breakfast, and watch Maleny’s magnificent 5th Light Horse Troop in all their finery at the RSL Flag Raising Ceremony, featuring the TS Centaur Cadets and the Maleny Singers.

Then the fun really begins – at the Aussie Day Sport, Recreation and Service Club Expo!    Entry is free – the Dave Hankinson Oval will be alive with activity, with over 50 Range sport, arts, service club, nature and recreational groups displaying what they do – including some hands-on opportunities to ‘have a go’!    Everything from TaeKwon-Do to table-tennis, car restoration to soccer, pony club to woodworking, gardening, netball, arts and crafts, land and bush care to croquet, chess to – there's definitely something for everyone.

And when Expo visitors pop their fully-stamped Expo Passport into the barrel, there are some great value-adding family prizes to win.     Simply collect a passport ‘stamp’ from every display – to win a family pass to Aussie World, ticket to Australia Zoo, Ipod Shuffles, Amart Sports vouchers, a stay at the fabulous Maleny Hideaway, lunch at Maleny’s Seafood Terrace, tickets into Maleny’s Botanic Gardens, prizes from Jonsey's Meats, Witta Fuel, Maple 3 Cafe, Maleny IGA, Maleny Harvest – and so much more, from a wide array of wonderful local businesses.     (Full details are included in this week’s newsletter).

This community event in Maleny on Australia Day is sure to get everyone out enjoying the sunshine and celebrating our nation’s day together.     The organisations have put a lot into creating a great Aussie Day morning, so come and check out what they have on show.

No funding was received for the event - it has been generously supported by our major sponsor, the Maleny Credit Union, MDSRC and our local businesses, who have donated goodies for the Draw - all have made the event possible.

Everyone is invited to the beautiful Maleny Showgrounds, to enjoy breakfast, and discover how many different ways anyone can get active in life and the community, in healthy pursuits of all description for all ages!

What better way to spend some of Australia Day and to find about some of the sporting or community activities that are in your community?
