Maleny Golf Club on Course

It was smiles all round at the Maleny Golf Club’s Driving Range on Monday morning.    And the happy occasion?     Councillor Jenny Mckay was there to officially announce the decision made last week by the Sunshine Coast Council to approve the lease agreements for a golf course to be built in Maleny.

Operations Manager Richard Hill brought the necessary documents along and President of the club Max Whitten signed the documents in front of supportive club members and friends.

Several Precinct Advisory Group members were also present, the group having been formed by Council to assist them in Precinct planning matters, with the PAG fully endorsing the golf clubs’ plans during the Community Precinct Master Planning process.

Councillor McKay and Max addressed the crowd, both acknowledging how much work had been done by many in reaching this outcome.    “We are very grateful to the Council officers who also worked closely with Cr Jenny McKay and the Golf Club committee to achieve this result”    said Max.    “After 12 years of negotiation (and some frustration along the way) we are pleased to see the signing of the lease agreement with the Maleny Golf Club today.

We are especially happy that this was a unanimous decision by Council, and we can now move into the next stages in delivering the new facility to the community”.
Thanking Jenny, his committee and volunteers, Max then invited Jenny to conclude the morning’s business and the signing took place under blue skies on their driving range – that now promises to develop into another great sporting attraction for Maleny golfers and tourists alike.
