District Sports, Service and Recreational Clubs Meet with Potential Ministers

On Thursday November 3rd at 4p.m., David Gibson MP, LNP Shadow Minister for Sport and Local Government, is coming to talk to our sporting, service and recreational groups at the Maleny Bowls Club.     Also in attendance will be local MP Andrew Powell and Councillor Jenny McKay.

This is a great opportunity for the sporting, service and recreational organisations of Maleny to come along and hear what he has to say should the LNP win the next election in Queensland.    The object of the meeting is to clearly understand what could be expected from the LNP because it's recognised our district has a real need to raise funding in an effort to achieve the capital development so badly needed in Maleny for both sport and recreation.

In all of the discussions held with Sunshine Coast Council officers, the one constant factor that negatively impacts on the development of sport and facilities in Maleny is funding. MDSRC believes there is real merit in lobbying State Government particularly at this early stage, so that they can better understand our situation.

The impact that the excellent presentations made by club Presidents had on SCC officers and Councillor Jenny McKay at the meeting of the 8th September is already bearing fruit; a budget is currently being prepared as a prelude to detailed design work commencing on the sporting area of the Precinct.     This was initially planned for year four in the Precinct budget.

A positive turn out can only leave a lasting impression on David (and demonstrate clearly that we are indeed a community that is determined to develop our sport and recreational resources) and help realise our vision for better sporting facilities in the whole district.

All interested folk are invited to attend this meeting.
