Golf al last played on the range

It has taken over a decade, but the day has actually come when golf has officially been played on the Maleny Precinct.

July 11th, 2010 has eventually come and it was marked in style with the official opening of the Maleny Golf Club official driving range.

More than 70 people attended to see the ribbons officially cut by just three of the many people who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the Maleny community has another sporting facility for all to enjoy.

This driving range is especially special as the facilities were all provided by the volunteers without cost to the local authority.

This facility is a tribute to many members of the M.D.S.A.C. Inc steering committee who have worked tirelessly over the past decade to ensure that the community gets an upgrade to the sporting facilities available to community members.

It is also a tribute to the previous land owner, Stephen Porter who ensured that the land was available to be used for "community activities"and had worked with previous Caloundra City Councillor, Pauline Clayton to ensure that that occurred.

The official ribbon was cut by State Member Andrew Powell, Local Councillors Jenny McKay and Tim Dwyer and assisted by Golf Club President, Max Whitten.

The range is now ready to be played upon and regular playing hours are being organised.   We will advise those hours as soon as they are available.   Where would you find a better outlook to "hook a round" of golf?
